Guest Robo Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 This SDN4 is from a box OAT DEC 10 which I’ve had some issues with. The box seems to be getting better with age and there are some really good cigars in there yet the majority have been crap. There’s a slight sheen to this particular cigar that’s getting me excited. Good construction, good draw that’s slightly loose if anything. This one starts off well: medium-full bodied with spicy tones. The first third the cigar opens up nicely and I’m enjoying it; there are flavours of leather, earth and the spice is still there but not as strong, but more well rounded. The second third the cigar gets a little flat for me, seems like the first third was better – not what you want in a cigar. The Partagas flavours are there but not very rich and more hollow. The last third the cigar picks up in intensity, I’m enjoying it more than the second third. The spice picks up again and now it’s full bodied but still lacking slightly in richness. In the end I’ve enjoyed this cigar but I’m left a little disappointed because I expect more from a SDN4. I usually don’t drink beer with cigars but I had a chance experience with London Pride while smoking that left a good impression on me so I thought I’d try it with the SDN4. The ale has a musty, earthy flavour that goes well with the cigar. There are some citrus tones on the nose that leaves a slightly tart taste on the palate. Full bodied, full of flavour, nice texture in the mouth for a beer. Folks from Ontario can pick this one up at the LCBO.
