Orion21 Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Ok wine guys, I buying a nice bottle for a raffle. So the question is which would you be more excited to win? 1)2009 Caymus Special Selection 2)2008 Joseph Phelps Insignia 3)2007 Beringer Private Reserve Obviously these are all California wines. I love French, Australian etc, but because it's a business raffle I am going for name recognition. Also, the budget is $150-$200.
phoenix Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 2008 Phelps Insignia. I love Bourdeaux blends and I like Phelps Insignia in 2008. Look at Costco (call around) as they are now a national distributor for The Insignia. You might find a blow out deal-- otherwise you're looking at ~$130-150 per.
bombaybill Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Had the 2006 Joseph Phelps Insignia. It is by far the finest bottle of red I have had in my life. It was a special occasion. My late boss invited me to celebrate new year's with him. The wine overshadowed the food. The most memorable wine I have had. All the rest have paled in comparism since.
Orion21 Posted June 11, 2012 Author Posted June 11, 2012 Thanks for the responses and to those on Shoutbox. I bought the Phelps Insignia, but I found a 2007 as opposed to the 2008. While I was at it I bought three more for myself because I couldn't help it . . . I would have been too jealous of whoever won the raffle . It's my wedding anniversary year anyway, so I look forward to drinking them.
thechenman Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 You made a wise selection. Can't go wrong with the Insignia. Ages beautifully too.
