Today turned out to be a really nice day despite what the clueless weathermen predicted, so I decided to try a new smoke that has alot of hype behind it and shares the marque of one of my favorites (the #3), the Montecristo #2!!!

So on the cold draw I was honestly didnt expect to get that much cocoa flavor but I did and it really got me anxious to get it lit!

1st third: Medium strength. The begining of this cigar was fantastic, strong flavor of chocolate, medium flavor of vanilla, and a nice roast tobacco flavor in the background. No harshness and thoroughly pleasent experience!

2nd Third: Medium/Strong strength. When the ash dropped I had high hopes, the chocolate had faded into the background and had been overpowered by a roast vanilla bean flavor that was very pleasent, but then suddenly, as soon as it had come it went away along with the chocolate and left with an unpleasent harsh ashtray taste. But I soldiered on hoping the third would resurrect this cigar.

3rd Third: Medium/Strong strength. Nope. Just horrible now, acrid, sooty, unpleasent smoke.

In conclusion, I am not sure what caused such drastic changes in this cigar from start to finish, possibly poor internal construction, possibly sick period as I bought this one as a single and did not recieve a box code, I cannot say. But whatever it was, it made for a complete disappointment for an experience. I might look into buying a stick or two with definate age so as to get a proper perspective, because my first impression has left me jaded.

80/100 and thats generous because I did enjoy the first third!!!

Thanks for the review.

I had a Monte #2 from a sampler pack from LFTH the other day, after not smoking one in years because of the inconsistancies in them, and it absolutely blew me away. It was like your first third all the way through. Sooo good it was like one of those once in a blue moon smokes. I hope you find a few of that quality in your future!

I have gone deep on the 2011's. Several boxes in, a few tested and all have been mind blowing. Maybe just lucky, but there is a reason they're so sought after and I'm glad I went heavy on these. Age will do wonders. Your's sounds sick to me.
