2006 VR Unicos

I really like the VR Unicos, this is the oldest one I've had. It is a sexy stick, the smell at the foot was nostalgic. I couldn't stop smelling it.

Smoke Time: 1hr 20 min

1st 3rd - it started off very spicy. Perfect draw. Very powerful and a pleasant blast of white pepper, floral perfumes and bready fruitcake. This opened up full strength. I have never experienced this on an opening with other Unicos before.

2nd 3rd- The strength weakened slightly, and the spice dissipated to a pure tobacco smooth flavor. Black Cherry, still bready, like a black cherry muffin. Draw is still great, burn is very even and it is producing great smoke. During the middle of this, hints of buttery coffee were shining through. Just an enjoyable pure tobacco. Some of the aftertaste reminded me of a good juicy chewing tobacco.

Final 3rd - Still a great even burn. The full flavor strength came back again. Now it's creamy, buttery coffee in it's prime. Fruitcake, black cherry muffins. Very enjoyable. Different than some of the recent production Unicos.

Is that your local or your cigar room? Nice place either way.

I agree with you on flavors, but I would opine further that Vr Unicos has never really been all that chocolatey for me. It's always had the taste of autumn leaves. Older ones show some malty cocoa, but I havent seen any of that in the new ones.

Agree, I've gotten chocolate from the Famoso, but not the Unicos.

Very nice review. I've been recently smoking from a box of 02s I've had since release but only recently "rediscovered". Mellow & medium bodied, I detected no spice, but a cocoa flavor I generally find both in Unicos & Montecristo #2s. The Unico is my favorite VR.
