this from bill harrigan. hardly a friend to qld. hopefully it will put the bleating and sour grapes to rest (tho i still think that the rule needs looking at - but as it stands today...).

Referees boss Harrigan said today after a review of the match, the Inglis decision to give Queensland a crucial 18-10 lead was correct.

"The big question is on the try that happened towards the end of the game ... it is a try," Harrigan said.

"I will break it down, Greg Inglis had possession of the ball and was trying to score a try. Robbie Farah has decided, 'I need to do something to prevent the try' and he has changed his gait and dislodged the ball with his leg.

"When it's dislodged it has come off the forearm of Greg Inglis but it is a rebound not a knock on because he didn't play at the ball.

"The ball was laying on the ground and he (Inglis) put his hands on the ball and that's the reason it was a try."

Asked if he told Stuart last night the Inglis incident wasn't a try, Harrigan said: "No I did not.

"I did not speak with Ricky Stuart last night.

"I spoke with Trent Barrett (NSW assistant coach) on the way out but I did not say it was not a try.

"Right through this I have said I need to review the game before I make a comment and that's exactly what I said about his try."

If the NSW folk think they've been hard done by by the decision (or non decision), they really should look at a video of the 1979 VFL Grand Final when Wayne Harmes knocked a ball to Ken Sheldon, who went on and kicked a goal for Carlton. Any sane Magpies supporter (they're aren't many around) will tell you that the ball was so far out of bounds at the time, that Harmes was actually sitting with the crowd when he thumped it back into play. The boundary umpire was obviously tying his shoelace at the time because he saw nothing. The Magpies had mounted a strong challenge coming from behind, and had cut the lead to 4 points. We were robbed i tells ya!

It was a good game last night anyway. Be interesting to see when the next SOO is held in Vic.
