CanadianKodiak Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 In celebration of the May long weekend I picked up a couple of singles and headed out to the lake-lot. My cigar of choice for Saturday night was the Ramon Allones 2011 Limited Edition. Quite honestly, this was only my second LE cigar and my first ever review so don't expect to be blown away...especially from a newbie to the hobby. But as a newbie I gotta get into that premium sampler draw Ring gauge is 44 and length, I believe is 5.6". An amazing looking cigar with a deep, dark wrapper that just screamed "smoke me" and smelt a little like bitter-sweet chocolate. The aroma of the foot was indescribale to me. Just pure pleasure. The cigar felt pretty firm to the touch and I was worried about a tight draw. The pre-draw was fairly uneventful with a slight woody like flavour with hints of cedar. The beginning of the first third was much like the pre-draw. Uneventful. The cigar was super light bodied and quite flavourless for the first few draws save for a very slight hint of cedar. However, it turned out my fears were alleviated and the draw was as close to perfect as I have had. Not tight, but not loose. Just right. After getting into the latter half of the first third the flavours started to flow like a fine wine and I was thoroughly impressed with what I had. Hints of roasted nut and a real earthiness to the tobacco was apparent, as well as a very smooth, almost creamy consistency. The 2nd third was absolutely fantastic. Much more on the lesser end of a medium bodied cigar now. The roasted nut flavour was now forefront followed by subtle earthiness and even some subtle hints of fruitiness. Amazing. As smooth and flavourful a cigar as I've ever had. The burn was absolutely perfect and the ash was creamy white and as long as an ash as i've ever had on a CC. Usually by the last third I've had to relight my stogies twice. Not so this time. Not a single re-light, not a single touch up. And the flavours! Wow, the flavours! Chocolate, slightly less undertones of roasted nuts and an amazing sense of fruit...especially on the retro-hale and even some earthy undertones. Amazing cigar! This is one of the few cigars I've had to push the band back to try and get as much as I could out of it. Great flavours throughout, amazing burn. My only complaint is that at some point it had to end. Sorry for the lack of photos and somewhat under sophisticated palette. I'm not a camera guy and even if I used my camera I'm sure all my pics would be blurry. Much like my lager fueled vision. I will definitely be looking for a box of these beauties. First redneck review...complete.
