thecrowder Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I just got the all clear to take a quick weekend trip for this weekend and I thought that I would explore Brisbane. I would love to hear any recommendations for hotels (was looking at the Meriton serviced apartments on Adelaide st), food (I love it all, cheap or fine dining!), and any other recommendations on things to see and do while there. I was toying with the idea of heading to the Gold Coast for a day trip, but, not sure how feasible that would be since I'm not planning on renting a car. Thanks!
Scdalak Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I hear the CZAR Deck is worth a visit..... I know the Cigars are good, but I have heard mixed reviews on Smithys BBQ talents.. I think last time he tried cooking the grille blew up and burned everyone beyond recognition..
Ken Gargett Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 urbane, ecco, armstrongs, ortiga, esquire, tartufo. plenty more - good restaurants. bring the winter woolies - it has got cold.

If you can...delay it a few weeks and we can have a bit of s shindig on the deck. I have family commitments this weekend and overseas next. Outside of that. Meriton apartments are...well...OK. Not much well priced accomodation in Brisbane. This looks like a good bet. http://www.wotif.com/hotel/View?hotel=W62607&page=1&adults=0&child1Age=1&child2Age=1&child3Age=1&child4Age=1&child5Age=1&child6Age=1&child7Age=1&child8Age=1&child9Age=1&startDay=2012-04-26 Ton of great restaurants and bars. Tartufo at Emporium, Ortiga, Cru Bar in Fortitude Valley all only 5 minutes cab from the hotel. Catch the Reds or Broncos game Friday Night. Do the bars pre or post along Caxton Street. Give me a call/PM me if you need any other advice.

In Smithy's defence, I do believe that was Rob's fault for letting the fat fire extend to the gass line!! Full-body Nomex suits are now required for any Czar BBQ!!

Fuzz AI Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Only one person put his hand into the flaming Gas bottle and turned it off....admittedly I have some experience doing so With the amount of alcohol in your system, I'd be hesitant to go anywhere near a naked flame, let alone a gas bottle that is on fire! Otherwise you may indeed turn into the Char Czar!!
thecrowder Posted May 4, 2012 Author Posted May 4, 2012 LOL! 'thecrowder', Are you coming up this weekend, or postponing it? Will catch up on the Czar deck when you're up here. Hey Bster, sorry for the late response. I ended up holding off postponing Brisbane and went to Cairns instead--first time at the Great Barrier Reef! I definitely hope to catch up on the Czar deck when I am able to make the trip to Brisbane!
