LIsa,

It is an adapter to play 45 RPM records on a record player. I know because I use to play the Beatles 45 records in the 60"s...Damn I guess I am showing my age. :lookaround:

That, is an adapter - put in the center hole of a 45rpm record so it could be played on a record player.

Record player spindles were usually sized for the smaller hole of the full sized LP record.

oops, too late :)

They also made discs similar in design and size that when into plastic guns in the 80s. Shot discs instead of ping pong balls etc.

yups... spindle adapter...

If it makes you happy we'll just stick to I.U.D for a few hours ^_^

If any of our twenty year old members use it as an IUD, they're going to end up as twenty one year old parents... :D

Now where's my 8-track.....

It's the symbol that will appear in the sky when the world ends, this year, as per that prophecy thingy.

I'm 38.

Do I win a bannana?

The record player my parents had when I was growing up had a cylindrical adapter that fit over the spindle and allowed full use of the "next record drop functionality" with 45s. Funny, the things that take you back in time.

Similar to this... but it's not the one I had growing up.

I'm assuming you mean the rewinding tool? I'm only 39 and I can clearly remember using pencils for that. Hell, when I was a kid I remember my grandpa still having an 8-track player in his truck. Man, I used to think I was so cutting edge with my first Walkman. LOL

Cheers,

Yep, I can remember that one.

Like taping the charts, and trying to hit pause before the dj talked over the end of the song...christ I'm old....

LOL. Oh my god!!!! I am sooooo guilty of using that trick, over and over and over.

That, and stuffing little wads of tissue/toilet paper into the holes on the top two corners of the tape cassettes, so that you could record/duplicate from them, and/or record over them (if they were a crappy NKOTB or Tiffany tape  ).

LOL.

Lisa, you should have included another option in your poll - "GI Joe action figure's ninja throwing star." I used those 45 inserts quite a bit for that! LOL.

Ahhhhh, good old 45's and 78's. :whistle::violin:

I'm going now to my exercise room to listen to some old vinyl on my Pioneer PL-55 turn table through my Sansui amp and JBL L36s while I work my stair machine. How's that for making use of the old stereo equipment. I knew immediately what that adapter was. I guess I'm old. ---Sam

Lisa i have had the same question for so long i see that used in logos and what not and thank you guys for sharing as for the pencil and tape i get it and im 21

Had no idea what that was but it would make a great conversation piece as a coaster. I love the sound of vinyl but I try to keep my expensive hobbies to a minimum. Will a rocks glass fit on it?
