Tried my first one from the box PLM ABR11 last night. Aroma at cold had a slight whiff of barnyard. Prelight draw showed a good amount of resistance - no wind tunnel and no tent peg either.

First third - the flavour profile was quite muted as I could only detect wood, leather and plain old tobacco. Medium bodied. Burn was razor sharp and very healthy long ash.

Second third no real flavour evolution just woody and leathery but certainly medium full bodied - started to taste the nicotine on my tongue and the tanins in my mouth. This is a young cigar though. Cigar required one minor touch up with my torch.

Last third was full bodied, high nicotine, still same flavour profile. Pitched it slightly before the band as it was becoming overpowering and I hadn't eaten properly.

OVerall: Way too young to smoke now but with decent construction and plenty of power, I'm hoping these will age well and develop more complex characteristics. Going to leave these for at least a year before re-sampling. Have a feeling they will need 5 years+. Right now an 85 at best and need time, so happy to wait.

Agreed, I think Rob could hand pick a box for you that would improve your chances.

I knew it would be a crap-shoot so I asked my vendor to carefully check construction and they seem to be spot on. Mine will take a while to come around to suit my tastes.

Sounds weird to say, but part of the inconsistent reputation made me more curious about these. I guess one day when they're on the money I'll feel like I've finally won.

Yes Graham - i think thats exactly what i will do. I have had a few from local vendors(cant really pick & choose here, not such a big market) & they have been all over the place. Am still in the process of getting vitolas high on my priority list - once that is more or less done, i will probably go for a HQ or PSP box of these. Thanks!
