Since there was someone taking part in the shoutbox just a few minutes ago who was wondering on how good or not the San Cristobal Mercaderes are. Let me just share my personal review of one of them from a box of 2009:

This is a very enjoyable cigar for those who like mild- to medium-bodied smokes. Beautiful construction which produces a very long ash if smoked slowly. First third tastes woody and nutty. A nice milk chocolate and cream aromas develop in its second third which continue up to the end. The finish is long and a bit dry and spicy but not too spicy. Very relaxing cigar with good changes of pace. Since this cigar is discontinued as of this year, it is worth try it and buy a few sticks or boxes if you like it.

Its superb! Thanks for posting this up bud.

My pleasure really.

PS: I am bumping up this to allow for more discussion about this particular stick.

I like them but prefer El Principe's, imho they're the best in the line.

Me too Jason but Mercaderes have a beautiful look! And maybe some aging potential.

A nice review. I've tried these (2007' box) and they were indeed light and very good. It's a whimsical cigar for my taste as I smoke relatively heavier blends. However, my friends who prefer lighter smokes went bonkers over them. I didn't know they were discontinued though...

Alas, recently discontinued they are. However, because this cigar has never had a strong following, there are still many boxes around!

All the best,

Michel

How does it compare to the other two LCDLH releases? I really like the Officios but I find the Muralla get's quite boring with little evolution over such a big smoke.
