AlexOk Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 RG 37 length 98 mm nachinemade Shortfiller, wrapped in cellophane discontinued in 2003 The photo is taken from my cigar-blog Optics: The bright Colorado wrapper has lost all shine and looks dull and lifeless. The foot is slightly bent. Cold smell: What is missing in the cigar optics it compensates with a very tempting smell. Noisette and Hazelnut are the sweet fundamentals. Mild and creamy. First third: Contrary to the impression of mild smell the cigar starts quite spicy and earthy. Together with the dry feeling of the smoke reminds the first third of dusty earth. But slight parsley flavors give a juicy twist. Second third: The middle, if there is something like a second Third in such a short cigar, is straight woody. Laurel and black tea are the aromatic components. Third third: Towards the end the smoke was dominated by strong roasted flavors. That reminds of espresso and burnt toast. As in the previous smoke provide aromatic herbs for variety. Strength: Despite the age, the small cigar an amazing strength. I would not expect from such an old short filler. I won't imagine what strength the cigar would have been in a fresh state. Burning / ash: Beautiful, even combustion. Dark gray ash with a closed surface. Slightly striped with a good stability. Conclusion: An honest short-smoke, that can't hide his Cuban origin. Although the humidity of the cigar was at 75%, a higher humidity would be probably good. I will test myself with one of the remaining sticks.
CaptainQuintero Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Very cool, how do they stand up to the Partagas Shorts to you?
AlexOk Posted January 12, 2012 Author Posted January 12, 2012 I have noted a certain similarity to the Partagas - Belvedere. In direct comparison, the Belvedere is milder and more floral, the Petit Bouquets more "direct". Compared with the shorts, I would call the shorts as a fresh and aromatic one. But I didn't know the boxingdate of the tasted Shorts. It could be a younger one. It will be interested to do a tasting with a Shorts from an similar BD. For a direct comparison, my short-notes for the Partagas - Shorts: 1/3: coffee grounds, clay, sandalwood, incense, 2/3: earthy, toasted strong, woody, forest scent, spicy, furry 3/3: earthy, woody, dry earth, green walnuts, tannin, animal, light bitter, Camembert cheese Because of the notes, a certain similarity cannot be disputed.
hidechen Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Great review of a discontinued Partagas stogie
mazolaman Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Excellent Don, interesting to read of something I'm not likely to see.
