Hello FOBers… Happy New Year!!!

Over the Holiday period I’ve had the chance to sample the following…

PCC Punch Sabarosos

Trinidad Colonialas

Partagas D5

They were from a reputable Bn’M store, however, I could not help but notice they were extremely similar in taste. They all possessed an overwhelming tinny zing (not a negative and similar to what is found in Bolivar Royal Coronas) and were missing the lushness I usually find in Punch, the softness in Trinidads, or the thickness in D5. I was told that with the exception of the Trinidad, all the sticks were from boxes opened no longer than one week.

My first suspicion is my newly acquired Prince Table Torch lighter. I do however keep the blue flame a healthy distance away when lighting and as a habit always blow out of the cigar before my first draw. My second thought is simply down to being a little unfortunate. They are simply my thoughts but what do you think is the case??

Maybe smoking a bit too much?

sometimes after a day of many cigars, the couple of days after my palate cannot register flavors properly.

usually a weeks rest sorts it out

I tend to doubt it has anything to do with how you lit them or what you lit them with. How long after purchase did you smoke them?

The reason I ask is that often times, retailers store cigars at a relatively higher humidity than you might at home, which can affect

a cigars flavor. Just a thought - could be any number of things.

Sometimes it seems cigars smoked directly after sting cigars do not register correctly on my palate.

The likely culprits are too high a humidity in the retail store (too much H20 in the cigars dilluting the unique flavours) or simply your palate is off its game. You may not even feel it but your body may be fighting a minor cold or allergy etc.

Trust me, I think from time to time all cigar lovers go through the same feeling ;)

Muchas Gracias!!!!!

Yes.. I've a runny nose for the last week and yes, they are kept at higher humidity (70-75%), and yes I've been over smoking a little. They were smoked within a few days of purchase and so I think it was a combination of all your replies. Thank You and thank God... I was a little worried about current Havanas loosing their character and although I do get a general feeling from the Habanos community that this is the case, I have a better understanding on other factors that may play on my taste buds.
