mazolaman Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Happy New Year to all. We went to Le Quecum Bar (geddit), a pretty cool French orientated Gypsy Jazz bar in Battersea. The theme was a 20/30/40's dress code, and most took part, which was really cool, with some great looking people. A decent 3 course meal, then a bloody good jazz trio with some classics and blues, the trombone/saxaphone player was fantastic, and the music got better as all got more pissed. All ages were there, and all were up for a good night, both great ingredients for a good new year. We popped out for a smoke at 11ish, where I had a Por Larranaga Petit Corona, which I took for its size and simplicity. As you would expect, it was it's reliably toasty tabaco slightly herbal/floral self, always a well made smoke, and as usual, I passed one out to a passing drunkard who swaggered up once he'd got a waft of cigar....Sadly, he ignored my advice to not inhale, and his 3 course meal had a return viewing some time later...on the pavement. Perhaps a fuller smoke would have been a better choice for me, as the PL was a bit light.... As usual though, it's nice to meet a few folk in smokers corner outside, as we social outcasts congregate, and as is the way of London life, we met people from Scotland, France, Poland .... It would only have been better if we could have sat at our tables, and smoked while taking in jazz... After Big Ben had bonged, we all cut a dash on the dance floor, in a rather lobsided manner....
