AlexOk Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Bolivar - Short Bolivar ER 2008 Asia Pacific BD: 10/2008 52 x 110 Cold smell: Very nutty, almond, praline and roasted hazelnuts. At the same time cedar and balsa wood. But already a kind of fruity flavors. A crazy combination. Burning / ash: Exemplary, excellent Burning. Round and evenly. Extremely stable ash. I once deposited ash, but it had not been necessary. Medium gray speckled with slightly open surface. First third: The first Third starts as expected. Quite woody. Hints of cedar which pairs very well with the aromas of dried fruit and apple. White pepper is evidence of the relatively young age of the cigar. Second third: The middle shows the Short Robusto significantly creamy and mild. Light roasted flavors of coffee with milk and fresh roasted almonds. Fruity and nutty with hints of dried fruit and raisins. At the same time spicy, earthy and wooden. One is reminded of an oak forest. Extremely complex. Third third: The final shows itself no less complex. The roasted flavors are much stronger and become visible as scorched wood and black coffee. Aromatic, spicy and woody. Beech is combined with fruity banana and a hint of mint. Conclusion: I didn't think that in such a short stub gets as much flavors. Rich in variety and every single draw a new taste sensation. Just phenomenal! Because of the young Boxindates a little unbalanced. But when the cigar is aged for another 3-4 years, it will be the top-hit.
PAL Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Nice review and In envy your ability to pick up flavors in such detail. Sounds like a great smoke.
PartiDude Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Nice review. I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on a box of these wonderful smokes. +1. I will be pulling the trigger. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.
CaptainQuintero Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Sounds great! These short robustos (mostly anyway) seems to be able to produce some amazing flavours and complexity, as much as I would never had thought I would say it, I can see them being the future small smokes at the expense of coronas/panatelas etc..
SurpriseMVP Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Nice review. Have a single sitting in the cooler. Looking forward to the bananas.
Ozz1113 Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Yes, I have a box vacuum sealed resting. I did it on a review by Pres. Each good review makes me happier
sactochris Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 I love Bolivar's. The price is right on these also. I want to try them.
BENN Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Interesting, I smoked one about a year ago and that is the worst cc I have ever had.
AlexOk Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 This is really interesting. A friend of mine has had similar (bad) experiences. When you smoke the cigar? Was it perhaps just in a sick period? On the other hand, with Juan Lopez I also had such total failures by taste.
hidechen Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Nice review indeed, I had it once when they first came out and it smoke nice. Ur post makes me want to go back to grab a few to revisit those !! Thanks mate!
