Ken Gargett Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 this is an oldie but it is gold. o'keefee was a former, quite average even by his own admission, test cricketer. he has the most bizarre laugh and sense of humour and has become a bit of a cult figure - for those who might have been wondering who on earth is he.
frenchkiwi Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 that's the type of guy you want in the commentary box while a test cricket stalemate is being played out. certainly better than silly promotional quizzes with a year's worth of KFC as a prize!!!
dicko Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Always turn the TV on mute and put on the radio when I watch the cricket. Kerry O'keefe is always good for a laugh
frenchkiwi Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Always turn the TV on mute and put on the radio when I watch the cricket. hear hear. why do tv channels have to choose such ... [insert your own term here] for their commentary. with the odd exception.
Ken Gargett Posted December 14, 2011 Author Posted December 14, 2011 partly because there are so few decent commentators around. especially those who really know the game. also why tv stations are puttting a few seconds between vision and reality so listening to the radio becomes pointless. i like gower, especially as he doesn't talk to much. also michael holding (all time best commentary comment - when told brian lara had named his daughter sydney, in honour of the city where he made his first double ton, his response was, 'thank god he didn't score it in lahore'). ian chappell, when he wants to be, is far and away the most insightful of the lot. ian greig probably past use by. healy quite fun. ian smith the best i've heard from nz. botham comes across as totally pompous. bill lawry is now a characture of himself. taylor not bad. slater annoying.
