mk05 Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Got some 1966s with my buddy and smoked them after a couple weeks of resting. Top notch construction. Billowing smoke like a padron. Tried to limit to 2 puffs a minute and the burn was razor sharp. My friend smoked it more casually and experienced a slight canoe. Construction = 93 Flavors? Meh. We smoked 2 each back to back to confirm my initial thoughts, which was - these are not ready to smoke. Flavor notes: very light chocolate - actually wouldn't even call it chocolate at this point. The cigar is so young and humid still, I'd call it more of a fresh baked white bread mixed with some medium roast coffee bean. No real discernible changes...but I can't enjoy it fully because I feel there's too much humidity in the cigar. There's nothing sharp about this cigar - It's very mellow and has a lightness to it - the retrohale just has a bite due to the ammonia. Flavors = 83 The 1966 are ok now, it smokes like a wet Oliva O Blue label. With time, I can see the toast and coffee flavors developing further and getting richer. Don't open your box, don't touch them, they need a lot of time. Enjoyment = 81 Total = 85.7; Solid B M (Note that my scale a C, 75-79, is an average, good everyday cigar)
#2 man Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Thanks for your review ! Look forward to lighting on up
maverickdrinker Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 nice review. great descriptions of the flavours. I agree that the are ones to be aged however, the ones that I have smoked have been fantastic. I tend to like my cigars ROTT though. Hard to keep my hands off of them.
