After the poor review, I had to grab one from a ten pack from Czar. Code is different, but I forgot to write it down.

Construction is fine. Draw is a little on the open side (i prefer some resistance). Initial light up is strong tobacco. Doesnt taste like a strong D4. Resemblance to partagas. Just strong, a little harsh, full bodied partagas spice that is a little on the bitter side. The burn is a little wonky in the first third. Strong flavors are calming down a bit. A smidgeon of partagas spice and burnt wood. I am smoking slower now, with sipping type draws, as it seems to be getting hot.

Halfway through and it is less harsh, but I am nursing the smoke intake. There wants to be some sense of cream, spice and wood, but it is not fulfilling. A hint of grass.

Final third and it is tame now, however, the taste is more like a Monte Petit Edmundo?

Overall, this cigar needs some sleep to hopefully make the first half enjoyable in some way. The final third was decent, but I am confused that it is a Partagas. I'll revisit in 6 months.

Cost more than SDN4

taste worst than SDN4.

Shorter smoke time.

Taste nothing similar to the orginal D5 EL.

Who they try to sell these to? honestly, they look to me just like a shorter SDN4 which means should be cheaper.

Thanks for burning one. Interesting to me is that you and the guys commented on an "open" draw - I wonder.....

Colt, I intended on commenting on this in the review, but got sidetracked with surfing the web, LITH and the review...

I think that some of these flavor issues (or lack of, or nastiness) is from the open construction. It was not a wind tunnel, but it was not typical from my stock
