mm12 Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Just opened this box today and really enjoyed this one, so I thought I'd post a quick review. Wrapper on these is Colorado, nice and thin. A little bit on the veiny side with a moderate amount of oil. Construction is perfect, and the cigars have a nice barnyard aroma. Opened at medium full with a bit of wood, leather, cream, and earth, with a few vaguely floral undertones. The body stayed at medium full for the first third, and the flavors were cream, nuts, and earth. Very smooth and moderately rich. As I got into the second third, the body abruptly dropped to under medium. Flavors started out as a very buttery sweet cream with a nice velvety smoke texture. As I got a little further into the second third, some milk coffee flavors started to emerge. In the final third, the body ratcheted back up to medium and eventually medium full. At the start the flavors were light cream, orange, and vanilla with a slight white pepper spice. About halfway through the final third the flavor profile switched to black coffee and black pepper At the end of the cigar, a minty cream flavor started to emerge. I was really struck by the smoothness and complexity of this cigar, and I feel like the blend was just perfect. Definitely one of the better cigars I've in the past several months. I give these a 94. I'm at a loss as to where these cigars are going to go from here. If I didn't have a box code on these, I'd guess they had 6 or 7 years on them.

Nice review! creamy velvety smoke and citrus are also the distinguishing features of this cigar for mine. I've got a box roughly the same age - reviewed on this site somewhere - and they are just splendid right now. (early on they were sickly and non-descript). for some reason in my mind they are a bit more of a summer-smoke, so i'm about to get back into smoking'em now. great cigars!!!
mazolaman Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Good review mate. These are a great cigar, one of the more under-rated habanos. You are dead right with the description of the smooth complexity of this cigar, never really strong, but usually flavourful.
Hohenthal Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Good review mate. These are a great cigar, one of the more under-rated habanos. Couldn't agree more! Had a Choix Supreme from a cab just recently - brilliant, no idea why even HSA officials refer to them as "beginners cigars", that's ludicrous. IMO it's a connaisseurs cigar! Enjoy, Alex
