Hohenthal Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Usually I am a bit ignorant when it comes to Limitadas, but as I am a big fan of Ramon Allones, this one has caught my interest. Anybody who tried them already, please share your first impressions. Thanks, Alex
Hohenthal Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 Ajay from the LCDH in Teddington did a review Thanks!
mm12 Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 That wrapper shade looked SO wrong to me on an RA. After watching that review, when I hear things like earth, coffee, cream, dark chocolate, slight bitterness, my worst fears are confirmed: A generic EL flavor profile rather than an RA flavor profile. I hope HSA eventually gets over their need to put maduro wrappers on cigars where they don't belong for all their EL's. It works ok with Cohibas, Montes, Upmanns, and Bolivars, but when they do it on RyJ, Hoyos, Trinidads, or RA, they just lose the core characteristics of the marca. I would have loved an actual Ramon Allones cigar in this format.

Styler Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Yeah, I'm with you guys. I would probably say that RA is my favourite marque but these just don't sound like they are going to deliver the flavours I would expect to find.

I think mostly everyone looking forward to these, me included, were sold on two reasons, (1) first RA EL and (2) the green band. I too hate the generic dark-wrappered EL's. I will have to pass on these.
thechenman Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Guys...guys...guys...let's no knock it till we've tried it. No one can offer a true opinion through someone else's review. There are those who have smoked the RA EL and liked it, and yes, there are those who didn't; however, you really have to sample the cigar yourself. At the very least smoke one before passing judgment. I'm not saying we aren't all entitled to an opinion, as we sure as hell are. But I've been surprised by many a cigar and now live by the credo of not disparaging a cigar unless I've actually smoked one before.

El Presidente Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 We get to see our first next week so and look forward to trying them. Will report back. Our video reviews will commence the week following. I am in the warehouse Monday/Tuesday...Smithy heads off for a 5 day break from Wednesday and I head to Singapore for 4 days from Thursday (singapore Rugby tournament and a little business). Smithy needs the break and I am not too far behind !LOL! The move is now into the 4th week and it has been a 7 day a week exercise. Almost finished.
thechenman Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Looking forward to hearing your thoughts jefe...
vivalanation734 Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Im a huge RA fan and I love RAs that have dark wrappers... from what Ajay said it sounds like it does have some good RA flavors in it. I think these could be good.
