El Presidente Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Happy Thanksgiving to all our North American members. One of the few holidays I really admire.....(Thanksgiving, Christmas, My Birthday...12th of Feb ;-) and Easter). The whole idea of spending time with Family and saying thanks is sacrosanct. With that in mind, tomorrow I am heading off on the mighty Canaipa Cruiser for a day and night of fishing and catching up with fellow members PJ, Matt, Macho, AK, Stefan, Dean and Hutley. I have just now told Lisa who has buried her head in some filing and refuses to speak to me. Keep her busy. I will post some Pics on Sunday :-D
guilow Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 » The whole idea of spending time with Family and saying thanks is » sacrosanct. What is sacrosanct? Anyway, hope you have a nice trip. Thanksgiving here is the best cigar smoking day of the year. You eat a huge meal, turn on a little NFL football, and fire up a fine smoke. What could be better?
El Presidente Posted November 24, 2005 Author Posted November 24, 2005 Sacred ;-) ...if I spelt it correctly :-D
guilow Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 » Sacred ;-) » » ...if I spelt it correctly :-D :-D :-D Thanks for the clarification. Actually, there's about 17 people in the U.S. that consider it sacred. The other 300 million just think of it as a day off and a chance to eat like a glutton without feeling guilty.
novasurf Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 » What is thanksgiving anyway? A time to "give thanks". We enjoy the fruits of our leisure on account of the sacrifices of others today and before us. We never forget that. Thanksgiving Day is a time for the family, feasting, and football that complete American life. Some fine wine, cigars and bourbon top it off for me. Loki Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Happy Thanksgiving fellow Americans. The gluttony starts when we are very young. I have fond childhood memories of packing in so much food that I actually vomited. Thanksgiving is the time for families to get together and catch-up. The night before is the most crowded pub night of the year. We call it Amateur Night.
