Maron76 Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Hello my FOH brothers, I am running this poll to try and help members new to our hobby/obsession decide on some of their first box purchases. Not all our members are fortunate enough to be able to purchase a box of fine Cubans jut to put them down for several years before smoking one. I feel bad when I see posts about someone not enjoying a cigar all because they smoked them to soon unknowingly. So I plan to query our members every few days with a new cigar and keep an up to date list of the results. Similar to what the Czar crew is running right now (Thanks for the great idea Ghabanos). Remember when you vote that these would be boxes currently available if you were to order them from the Cigar Czar, so recent box codes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Previous poll result links: Partagas Short Bolivar Petite Corona
mm12 Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 These have only been around for 2 years, so nobody really knows for sure what kind flavors are going start coming out as they get some decent age on them. That being said, all of them that I have smoked so far have been great. A consistent 91+ point cigar at 1-2 years old in my opinion.
bassman Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Perhaps these will improve with age. I have a box stashed away to see. However, this is one of the best fresh cigars I've smoked. The flavor of the first release, after a couple weeks sitting to settle down, inspired me to buy several boxes.
thechenman Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 The TRT is a fantastic cigar. Oftentimes my favorite Robusto and easily my favorite vitola in the Trini marca. These cigars smoke great ROTT, and while they haven't been around long enough for long term aging...I can tell you taht the short year that I have on my smokes haven't made them any better or worse so far, which leads me to believe they don't require long aging to hit their peak. I reserve the right to rescind this comment after I've tasted some truly aged samples though.
TonyV Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I smoked one about a week ago, from a box NOV-09. Rich, smooth, creamy. Hoping for them to get better with some age on them, but would recommend smoking them with that age right now.
Habanos2000 Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 I just picked up a 12 pack from Sept 10 and will have my first one this afternoon. Really looking forward to it. While you question is specific to this vitola, I do have to say all the boxes of all the different cigars that I've received from 2008 on haven't required any down time to be enjoyable. Whether or not that's due to the abundance of tobacco HSA has or if they're just doing things differently, I'm not sure, but I was never a customer that was interested in buying a product for use 5 years down the road. Producing cigars that are enjoyable ROTT and potentially get even better with time is what keeps me coming back for more!
