CaptainQuintero Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 After enjoying an Especial #2 a few months back I picked up an Especial single to try, having never had one. There is a lot of hype around this stick! -Decent construction, few veins but the draw is quite tight, on that knife edge where it can cause stress trying to enjoy ithe cigar. 1/3 The tight draw allowed for a nice slow burn and the ash reflected this, typical Monte flavours right from the get-go which quickly developed into milk chocolate and cream and for the first time ever, cow pat. I've heard people talking about this before but never experienced it. Taking the stick out of my humidor I caught a distinct waft of cow arse and knowing that I had showered earlier decided it must be this mythical flavour profile making an appearence. 2/3 Moved pretty quickly away from the milk chocolate into raw cocoa beans, still silky smooth smoth and creamy. The tight draw settled down nicely which also resulted in some nice limp **** ash (which was suprisingly firm). Towards the end the cocoa beans drifted back towards the refined milk chocolate 3/3 The draw unfortunately tightened up again, maybe it was sensing the weather as dark clouds were starting to roll in. Small waves of rich leather started to creep in and maybe tiny hints of delicate spice appeared, which flashed away as soon at it had appeared. Pretty much a continuation of the milk chocolate until the end really, the cream having gone and the draw getting more tight which, along with the spitting of rain, ended the cigar for me with about two and a half inches left. Overall it was enjoyable, not getting near the heights that I was expecting though but that was pretty much all down to the poor draw. The single was I think 2005/6 but I can't find the reciept. The newer Especials seem to be having better construction so I think I may revisit at a later time. As it stands Monte 3 are still leading the line for the marka for me. 85/100 ------------------ That's 14 tickets now Ghabanos, get smoking!
