ajgagnon Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Hi all, Sorry, no pics today, but I tried my first Raphael Gonzales yesterday from a new B&M shop that opened at the end of my block (yikes). I suspect these are short filler, but boy, the tobacco is nice. I got heaps of chocolate, cocoa dust and chewy, syrupy goodness. No sharpness or spice whatsoever, and a very short finish (almost dropped completely away after the cocoa and faint charred cedar). The draw was a bit tight but the deep rosado wrapper was intriguing if a bit rustic. Anyway, for a quick little smoke, it was very nice. My friend had a R&J Coronita en Cedro at the same time, and that must have been an absolute top notch cigar... light tan wrapper, perfect burn and amazing scent. He was amazed. I'm pretty happy to have a decent B&M so close, and I can now test some new cigars locally to inform any potential box purchases! Cheers!
IcedCanuck Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Those are one of my favourite cigars to smoke in the winter when it's too cold to burn a full sized one.
Dbone Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Thanks for the review. The RG marca is within my targets. Can't wait to get my hands on some.
bstarrs Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Yeah these are not bad, I am more than happy with y box and they are dirt cheap also. I plan on getting another box or two for the winter as they make a great quick smoke.
Trevor2118 Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I suspect these are short filler Absolutely correct. http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/brand.asp...Panetelas_Extra
mazolaman Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I also love these. I've had about 4 boxes, but I would also agree with someone else who posted that they can also be plugged or too tight. The last box was littered with unsmokeable ones. But for the price............It's no big deal. I'll be getting another box soon. Also the R and J in cedar are great. I have a few cedros deluxe no 2.....which are excellent examples of the best of r and j.
fred170 Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 These use to be my favorites until I discoved the San Cristobal Principe. The RG's are a good lunch cigar when time is not a luxury!!! Excellent review mate. 1
