My obsession with the Lusitania continues: it was on May 7, 1915 that the namesake ship was sunk by a German U-boat off the coast of Ireland. Wonder if there will be a special 100th anniverary cigar showing up in a few years?

I have a fascinating book on the topic. It sank in 14 minutes if I remember correctly?

Is the Partagas cigar named after the ship?

I have always been fascinated with the Titanic..way before the movie came out and more so since.

It was recently the 99 year anniversary of its sinking.

I also wonder if there will be a 100 year anniversary cigar in honor of the Titanic or to capitalize on it.

Seems to me that a United Kingdom Regional Edition named the "Titanic" would be freaking cool if not cheesy :)

I don't think it is named after the ship. The word is also the name of a region in either Spain (or Portugal?) which took its name from the tribes inhabiting it as far back as Roman times, to wit: the Lusitani. They were fierce and warlike. Then again, that's what the Romans said about everyone whose land and resources they coveted.
