Hello,

I am currently waiting on a Aristocrat humidor and I also purchased many boxes of cigars which I have received. My old humidor is packed, no more room. Will it be ok if I leave 10 to 15 boxes out in the open until I receive the Aristocrat? The boxes have already been out in the open for about 2 weeks, what should I do?

Also, I should be receiving the new Aristocrat in about 2 weeks at the most, as it's been over 1 month since I ordered.

I would get a Tupperware or cooler and store it there with some beads or some form of humidity delivery.

it seems like quite a long time to have them out in the open, whatever moisture they lose will result in taste loss.

But wont the flavour be back when I leave them in a humidor for a long period of time?

I am no expert but have read that the oils lost will not be recovered.

Thats why when they are shipped the get covered in heavy plastic, to prevent loss of essential oils through dehydration.

I don't think two or even four weeks can do damage , this depends on the humidity where you live and the temperature.

I would take the safer route and put in a cooler for the time being.

You need to act quickly mate, even if you can get large ziplock bags and throw the boxes in them with a boveda pack, that is probably the cheapest aswell as the most effective solution.

Im ordering an aristocrat next month and cant wait!!!!!!!

Retailers ship cigars wrapped in plastic to avoid moisture loss.... even when the travel time is a single day.

Dampen a cloth and hang it up in your house, and watch how little time it takes for it to dry.... it certainly doesnt take long thats for sure.

No, once they've dried out they never will be the same.

What's the RH in the room if you put a hydrometer out? How much does it vary?

Personally, I'd have no problem doing this because the RH in my house stays pretty much between 60 and 70 from March to November. If your RH is too low, then I'd recommend large ziplock bags and Boveda packs. If it's too high, crank up the air conditioning.
