Vortigan Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Ordered a box of these a few days ago,now in transit.Whilst looking through some reviews on this cigar yesterday I discovered that there are, apparently, two versions of this cigar, one hand made and the other machine made?? I appear to have ordered the machine made
Vortigan Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 I'm further confused by looking back over some four year old reviews of mine and one of them is of a '98 production of this cigar that was certainly Totalmente a mano and nowhere on that particular site is it listed as being anything other.
MontrealRon Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 I appear to have ordered the machine made Not very likely. This cigar, like all other former machine-mades, has been entirely hand made since around 2002. Some vendors, though, have still not caught up to this "news"!

Thank you for that Ron I emailed the vendor this morning to ask about this and their reply stated "usually it states if they are hand made and these do not" Hmmmmm this makes me wonder that they're not entirely sure of their stock, which can't be good.Unfortunately this was the only vendor, known to me at least, that is carrying this cigar.

Hi, I smoke them and have two boxes of these resting. They are hand made and damn strong, I wouldn't smoke one for the first year. I wouldn't worry to much regarding the vendor not knowing how they are made, they are way below the radar for most vendors and as long as they carry it you should be OK. And just to keep your mind at ease, no one fakes them as far as I know

Granted it had 9 years of age on it I'm not sure of the age of the box coming but I would agree that they'd probably be best left awhile.Don't think I'll be able to resist just one after a couple of days though!
Vortigan Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 And just to keep your mind at ease, no one fakes them as far as I know I just got that!! hehe
Vortigan Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 Just this minute had another email from the vendor....."Most of Partagas are hand made, but not Petit Coronas Especiales"
bassman Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Hard to believe your vendor does not know these have been hand made since 2002. Maybe he only has older stock laying around, but you'd think a vendor would be up on a major event in the industry that happened nine years ago.
Vortigan Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 Right I've bailed out on messing about like that anymore!! I've switched the order to SLR PC instead!
bassman Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 SLR PC will be milder, but is a very nice cigar. Discontinued & slowly becoming hard to find.
Vortigan Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 Guess what?? that didn't work out either!! Turned out they're out of them!! arghhhh Sooooooooooo.......and this is definitely definte this time!! It's a box of San Cristobal El Principe that's heading my way! Never had one but have heard and read nothing but good reviews and so I'm taking a punt

You'll enjoy it. Biggest problem I've had with them is a tight draw from time to time which blows, but it does not happen too often.
ksblazer Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Smoked a recent SCdLH El Principe Monday night. It was the best El Principe I've ever had. Lot's of flavor for such a little cigar. Please give a a review after you get the chance to smoke one.

I find PCE's usually smoke real well young... but if you don't get to them when they're fresh they do tend to need a year or two to come back around. A great bargain, they are. Wish C-Czar would stock them in. And, BTW, there is no doubt that current production is handmade.
