Scdalak Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 So I sparked up a nice Cohiba Robusto yesterday after Easter Dinner, about 1/3 into the smoke, the sucker split up to about the 2/3 of the cigar. I could actually hear the outer leaf crack as it was happening. I cut the sucker open to investigate and possibly noticied the inner leaves were darker and perhaps too moist? Anyone have any reasons as to why? Happen to anyone before? My Humidor is pretty steady at 65-68% Needless to say i was not happy.

The majority of the time when it comes to Splitting, It is not what temp and RH your humidor is at but rather the temp and RH of the conditions you are smoking it in. Dramatic change can generally ensure a split. The darket leaves inside is likely the Ligero/seco.
