Whodat Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Bledsoe was no slouch, that's pretty cool! Also, just to step onto an NFL field means you were one of the best in the world at something, not many can claim that. Must have been nice to get your two from Bledsoe with him being a Washington State guy. I agree. For any FOH who are football fans (especially Saints fans) I'd say playing just 1 down in the NFL would be a dream come true!
CanuckSARTech Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Had a nice conversation with Al Pacino on the street in NYC once. That's as close as I've come to star status. Kind of similar. When I lived in Toronto for a couple years right after school, I did a lot to pay the bills. Aside from working at a couple smaller ad firms (where one particular President got me going into cigars), I actually did do two things related to the movie industry. It was '97 to the end of '99, and I did a whole bunch of movie extra work (no main speaking parts or anything), but the main was working for a security company that did some VIP escort / close protection work. From some that I can remember off the top of my head, here's some honourable mentions: Movie extra stuff: - Was in "Pushing Tin" with John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton. Mostly a seated extra in various scenes on a plane. Cusack? A complete prick.- Was in an extended background role (about a solid month's worth of work) on an A&E special or something, called "The Crossing" with Jeff Daniels as George Washington (also had the guy from Cheers that played the British boyfriend/bigwig). Both were extremely cool to work with - Jeff Daniels was more than amicable and courteous to all on the set, no matter who they were / what they did.- Had a small background role in "The Mitchell Brothers" movie, with Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez, a true story about the brothers that started the porn theatre industry in the 70's (?), and how one ended up killing the other, or something like that.- Had something in "Detroit Rock City", with a bunch of stadium/concert crowd shoots taking place at an arena on the outskirts of Toronto.- Lots of small stuff for TV shows, like "Nikita", etc. Security stuff: - lots of concerts: Jewel, Cher, Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers, Chris Sheppard, Ramstein, Shania Twain, The Barenaked Ladies, Rolling Stones, lots of various international electronic/dance/rave DJs, etc., etc. All were very cool - don't remember a negative thing from any singers/bands, aside from some illegal-substance tendencies of one particular DJ, as well as the Ramstein drummer being an idiot while getting crowd surfed, and basically having his ribs shattered.- lots of movie shoots and Toronto Film fest stuff.- from the same time as "The Mitchell Brothers" movie shooting, I had a few occasions to escort around Emilio Estevez. Very cool dude - was right into cigars and such, and this was during a very pivotal time for me in gaining my interest in Habanos. I do remember though that I was shocked at how short he was, but how well he carried/presented himself, while also being very careful to not come off as a big-headed/egotisical jerk.- with movie and TV shoots, got to meet a bunch of interesting actors/actresses, some of which aside from the ones listed above, were: Scott Wolf, Neve Campbell, Casper Van Diem, Stallone, Harvey Keitel, Gabriel Byrne, Oliver Platt, Kristen Dunst and Michelle Williams, Catherine Bell, Milla Jovovich, Matthew Perry, etc. All very cool. Now, did I do anything special with all this? No, not really. But I did feel lucky to meet all of these "big stars", and to be put in a position of trust with them. And it was very cool to get paid to hang out with them, in essence. And cooler still was finding out that weird maxim of Hollywood - that "stars" are just like us, and are pretty cool people to chat wish (especially if you can get past the studio handlers!).

Must have been nice to get your two from Bledsoe with him being a Washington State guy. Yeah he was no slouch, but I always loved it when I could stick it to Drew. After the game I told him thanks and then we both gave each one the middle finger! ...and that was it!! LOL
Habanakane21 Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 NFL? Wow, that's so amazing! You should be very proud. You lived the dream that millions of young males never had the chance/talent/skills/physical attributes to do. So Kane, do you mind if I send you my football pool pick-sheets next year?! Picking teams to win is tough. It's all about game plans, preparation, personal decisions and even half time adjustments...things that people really have no access to. Some games are easy..others it's a coin toss more or less.
Habanakane21 Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Yes I remmeber those Saints teams. Redksins fan myself from way back to George Allan and Billy Kilmer days. The playoffs comment was a referance to Jim Mora Sr's, now famous, postgame quote:"Playoffs?! Don't talk about playoffs! You kidding me?! Playoffs?! I'm just hoping we can win a game, another game!" When he was the coach of the Colts. For those FOH's who are not familiar with the NFL. To play saftey at the NFL level you have to be one of the best, if not the best, conditioned athlete on the field. Coach Mora had the greatest and broadest vocabulary ever. Team meeting were great. You had to bring your dictionary....Once the meetings were done we would split into positions meeting and we would tease Jim Mora Jr about how his dad talked...He would just laugh at us.

Pretty funny stuff Kane. His 'playoffs' tirade is his most famous and has gained cult status but was by no means his only quotable post game comment. As an avid NFL fan pretty proud to have you as a fellow FOH'er.
#2 man Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Was that for Polk High.... An Al Bundy reference..... That was 6 TD's in one game
