Scdalak Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Hello all What a tremendous Global Forum this is for all cigar lovers. Very Excited to be here, Just tough being low man on totumpole.! Been smoking Cubans since 2004 it has become as much a passion as a hobby. First Question as a newbie here, I have about 5 R&J Shorts Churh's in my Humifor that are very "spongy" in the middle, is that simply too much moisture? Should I take them out for a day to dry a bit? does that jeopardize the cigar? The rest of my stock seems to be ok. Interesting enough, the spongy ones are located right under the Humidifier, guess I should just move them. Never had this issue in the past hence my trepidation in making a decision. Anyway, thanks to all, look forward to new friends. Steve
Peter11216 Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Welcome Steve, I'm not qualified to give you any advice, unfortunately. All the Best, Pete
Colt45 Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 It could be that they are over humidified a bit. It could also be a case of being a little underfilled. Try moving them away from the humidifier for a few days, a week or so. As for removing them entirely, many members here dry box their cigars prior to smoking in order to remove excess moisture. In case you are unfamiliar, dry boxing is simply putting a cigar in a cigar box with no humidification, or simply leaving it out on a table, etc. Obviously, it only works when the humidity outside your humidor is lower than that within. Don't be afraid to try it - let us know how it ends up.
Scdalak Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 Great Advice, my only fear was leaving them out too long and drying them out complety, from what i read I guess I shouldnt worry too much about that. Many Thanks!!
