Hi everyone,

planning a trip to havana for the end of the month... 2 questions

1- will the new LE 2011's be available yet? probably not eh?

2- has anyone stayed at the Melia Cohiba? tripadvisor rates it as the #4 hotel in havana... we wanted to stay at the parque central but it is sold out for the weekend we intend on going

all feedback is appreciated! thanks in advance

You won't see the 2011 LE's around yet, unless there is a miracle in Cuba! :2thumbs:

As far as the Melia, it all depends what part of Havana you want to stay in. I have never stayed at the Melia, too far out of the way for me and my needs. I always stay within walking distance to Partagas/Reynaldos when I'm there. Sevilla might be another option for you. I stayed there last year. Nice hotel. Not the Parc by any means but none the less nice.

Have you considered staying at a Casa? Always a good option.

Melia is OK.

If you are staying in that part of Havana you might as well stay at the Nacional.

If you want to be central and want genuine 4 star then the Saratoga

Melia is like a European hotel, complete with european-esque service. The Hotel Nacional is 100% state owned, state run and the service really shows. That being said, The Nacional has so much more character and is simply a fun location. I do not know any other hotels in Havana, but I suggest the Hotel Nacional over the Melia Cohiba. If you think you are really high maintenance, (which no one who is, ever thinks they are,) then, undoubtedly you will enjoy the service of Melia Cohiba over the character of the Hotel Nacional. Otherwise, buy a ticket and take the ride...
