Brisbane car rental

I'll be landing in Brisbane the morning of the 11th and will need a car for 5 days, what's Australia's car rental like. Am I better off booking online now or showing up and shopping for a deal at the airport? Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

From my experience, book online. Web deals are going to be better than trying to negotiate something with the desk peon. Most will just tell you they don't offer discounts, others will give you a really shitty car for asking; ie "Sorry sir, all the large and mid-sized vehicles are booked, I can only offer you a Daewoo Matiz hatchback..."

The major rental companies are Avis, Budget, Hertz, Thrifty and Europcar. Check out this comparison site for pricing. A small hatchback should set you back about $30/day.
