BobLobLaw Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 The recent thread on Cigar Deletions got me thinking. Every year it seems HSA does away with cigars and there is a lot of upset people. If you were in charge and were told you have to delete 5 regular production vitolas what would you select for the chopping block? Also why? Tough for me because I do not smoke often. I am not including any JLP as they are #1 worldwide, or any machine mades. I also really can't comment on Quintero, Vegueros, Sancho Panza, Quai d'Orsay, Fonseca, and La Flor de Cano having never smoked any of them. In any case, here are 5 that I would not really notice if they went missing. 1) - Partagas Presidentes - Smoked one, it was ok. Never heard enough about them to even make me think I would want a box 2) - Romeo y Julieta #4 - See above 3) - A shared size cigar in a major line such as Upmann PC and Regalias (more market research needed) 4-5) - Two cigars from the Cuaba line. They are all bland. Off hand lets pick the Tradicionales and the Diademas. Who wants a 3 hour cigar that has zero flavor??
Fuzz Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 1. The entire Monte Open line. 2. RyJ Churchill - I have not had a good one. So far at best they tasted like plain tobacco, at worst like newpaper. Can't really think of a 5th one to cull. I would love it if HSA would kill the Monte Opens and bring back the Partagas SdC range. I had only just started to get into the SdC #3 when they killed it.
