Last night, Rehman Rashid asked me: how do you decide what cigars to buy? I suppose a few factors will influence my buying patterns. I will always buy the cigars i like, such as the Partagas Serie D No. 4, the HDM Epicure No. 2, the Ramon Allones Small Club Coronas. Then there are the cigars that i want to “try”, these sticks are not what i normally buy, but because they represent a departure from what i usually smoke, they are nice distractions to have everyone once in a while. Finally, there are the cigars that i buy because others tell me it’s good. And so it was with the Cohiba Maduro Genios, after a glowing recommendation from Rehman a month and half ago, was bought because someone i knew whose tastes i trust liked it too.

Great review , I have had 2 of these fellas in the last 6 months and found them absolutly superb. I do get the rich choclate and peppery tones. Very nice cigar.

Great read, thanks for posting. These are definitely on my short list.

Ditto on the post. One problem I've run into with the Maduro Genios seems to be construction. Already run into a couple where I had to attach the vacuum cleaner to my rear end in order to get a decent draw. Love the flavors, but a real bummer when no amount of cutting will allow you to get a nice smooth draw. Of course, after paying the price for these cigars, I just muscle through them - but someone needs to tell Cohiba to stop hiring the musclemen to roll the cigars and get rollers with a little finesse.

Great review.

I have a box of 10 Genios 'MGA MAY 10' sitting in my humidor and am looking forward to trying one on their one year anniversary date May' 11. That is if I can wait that long after reading your review. :D
