Excellent thread. I have some Lagavulin 16 and I have a single of the Grand Edmundo. I never thought to pair together. I usually, don't smoke with my heavily peated single malts, mostly sweeter highlands malts

My favorite is Highland Park 12 and Trini Reyes. You've inspired me to do a review with that pairing.

So how well did they compliment each other ?

The Monte Grand Edmundo have the same profile as the Monte Sublime but much better even as a very young smoke. Currently 90pt and shd be better in a few years.

As for the pairing , i a sucker for peated scotch , and lagavulin really bring out the favour of the smoke. I would't be able to pick out this much favour if i pair it with beer or wines.
