Firt of all, first review (for this forum) and using a basic phone browser, so sorry for any weird/lack of formatting

Initial thoughts

This was my first taste of this brand and I'll admit I wasn't expecting too much from it, but I was hoping it would surprise me. Smoked a single I bought loose, so not too sure of dates, but based on what I know it was atleast a couple of years old. Smoked in my garden at about 5am, to keep me busy for a bit until I could start getting ready for work on a sleepless night. Drink was black coffee.

Pre-light

This was quite an attractive cigar! Nice dark wrapper, slightly dry, but smooth and neat with no obvious veins. Cut cleanly and the cold draw was easy, if a little flavourless and the aroma was slightly lacking, which gave me concerns of what to expect from flavour. However, later that day I was hit by a nasty cold, so could have just been that starting to show.

Post light

As soon as I lit it, any worries about lack of flavour vanished. From the first touch of flame it delivered leather and spice, with thick, satisfying smoke, which remained through the first third. Towards the end a new taste (either "toasty" or just "toast", I can't decide which. Or if theres even a difference between them..) started to develop, which lingered pleasantly on the finish.

As I got into the second third, a slightly floral taste emerged, which i used to be quite wary of, but have recently grown to like. However, around the halfway point it seem as if my stick had just broken, like someone had unplugged it so they could plug in their hairdryer. Floral turned to soap and toast/toasty turned to salt (but salt when someone's played the "unscrew the top of the salt so it comes off and goes all over your food" prank on you). The draw worsened and the burn needed several touch ups.

This continued and intensified into the final third and it wasn't long before I gave up on it and just let it go out.

Overall thoughts

This cigar somehow managed to pleasantly surprise and dissapoint me at the same time. The fact that I did not finish it says it all, but I will certainly be giving it another go.

6/10

For me this cigar was like an american high school film, where the jock has to take the nerdy girl to the prom, but realises he really likes her, because shes beautiful on the inside and all that. But then she starts talking about the marching band and does a crap trombone solo infront of EVERYBODY and it scares him off. But he's intrigued by her, so he rings her back the next week. And we all learn a lesson.

Erm.. Know what i mean?
