kafreeman Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 So a friend got a box from the Swiss... LRE FEB 10 absent the new warranty seal altogether, just the classic one. I didnt say anything, figured I would ask on here first. Everything else looks correct, new corner box seal with D.O.P. and newer bands. Is this just Cuba? Sticks look great though.
smokem Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 I know some gray market vendors remove the bar code part. The new seal wasn't totally removed I assume, correct? The code on the old seal starts with I or J? I'm guessing, just guessing, it may be Cuba. Let us know how they smoke.
hddeucebrad01 Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 I have also read various threads that said the suppliers of the grey market sources remove the bar codes to prevent traceability. I have purchased many boxes from the Swiss and most appear legit.
kafreeman Posted October 5, 2010 Author Posted October 5, 2010 It flat out does not have a new seal on it, just the older style. Everything else looks legit. Newer style bands new corner seal, just a totally absent new warranty seal.
CUBANO Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Split a box of BBF with a friend, and we received the same code and date; probably the same Swiss vendor. After close scrutiny I can say they are real. kafreeman if you want send me a pm with the vendor's name and i'll let you know if is the same one.
Dbone Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 I have received 100% legitimate 2010 boxes which don't have the new hologram tax stamp, just the old one. Remember where these cigars are coming from. I didn't think much of it, but if they factory should run out of the new tax stamps for some reason... Im sure they still have a good supply of the "old" laying around to use as a temporary option. New or old, it serves the purpose for which it's designed to do. Not meaning to sound condescending in any way, but determining the legitimacy of your cuban cigars by packaging is a no win game. That includes the labels. Go with your gut, if the taste and flavor is on, aroma at cold and dry draw are on for the Marc, then it's all good bro
