Trevor2118 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 There is a report of a pending Habanos Collection (Book) Series, containing 30 cigars (3 of each from all the books made from 2001 to 2010). A LCDH advises that they have some on order, but have no further details. Anyone else heard anything?
Colt45 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Trev, are these supposedly newly rolled cigars, or cigars rolled and put aside from each of the previous books?
Trevor2118 Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 Trev, are these supposedly newly rolled cigars, or cigars rolled and put aside from each of the previous books? Ross, I'm not sure but I suspect they will be new-rolls (at least for the early releases), as I doubt that they put cigars aside each year.....but I've been wrong before.
Guest rob Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 With all due repsect to HSA... but could we believe them if they told us they were originally rolled stock that was put away?
Colt45 Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 With all due repsect to HSA... but could we believe them if they told us they were originally rolled stock that was put away? Robbo, I know it's probably unlikely that cigars were held back - but the trust factor.......... this could be a can of worms, and I'm not sure where to even start. What do most of us really know? We've heard the stories - edmundos cut down to make petit edmundos, re-banded re-boxed REs, cigars produced with no concern of blend / marque and banded as needed. We know there have been back door shenanigans, but they can't really be attributed to the company per se, and the same thing goes on within any number of companies world wide. So who do we trust? Do we trust the company as a whole? Do we trust PCC when they say they put aside cigars for five years and then release them for the vintage program? (I guess it would be easy enough to keep old boxes or stamp new ones) Do we trust merchants who wittingly or unwittingly sell suspect cigars, and if unwittingly, can they be trusted for anything? Custom rolls - how hard would it be to use whatever crap tobacco was lying around and pass them off as cream? There's plenty of room for the unscrupulous throughout, but the cigar industry hold no monopoly there.
Trevor2118 Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 With all due respect to HSA... but could we believe them if they told us they were originally rolled stock that was put away? Hi Rob, I was not suggesting that Habanos SA would lie about their origin. I just stated that they may or may not be new rolls. I'm sure that we will be told the full story. If fact, this release has not yet been confirmed.
SethG Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I don't think they would have any reason to attempt to include the older cigars, it's more about the special vitolas to them. I'd be all over such a box, I've enjoyed quite a few of the book humidor vitolas.
