MoneyPit Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 The Open started this morning and I didn't see that anyone was discussing it. Just curious if anyone had a rooting interest. The early leaderboard has Rory McIlroy out in front with Tiger lurking steadily behind. I've been watching this McIlroy kid for some time now and he was my darkhorse pick for the US Open. He didn't fair so well there but I think he's going to be tough to beat this week, especially after today's start. Any thoughts? - DoberMan
Azksig Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I have been logged into ESPN3 at work watching the whole thing live. Obviously not going to be very productive today . Rory had an amazing round. Hopefully the conditions toughen up on the weekend.
habone Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I love to watch the Open. Its prolly my favorite major to watch...some day I hope to go see 1. I like getting up early in the morning to watch and the British commentary is 2nd to none. I can't stand listening to Johnny Miller. I could definately see Mcilroy win...that kid has 1 of the most beautiful swings in golf. I would love to see him kick Tigers ass come Sunday that would make my day! I'm rooting for a young guy to pull it off...Justin Rose. Anybody but Poulter I can't stand that fruitcake.
gehrig24 Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I was up early to watch it before work. I think this championship is so unpredicatable because of the weather changes that anyone still has a good chance. I do love watching early golf.
Guest rob Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Me love some golf. I'm pulling for Rory. I love it when young guys do well... but seeing the geriatrics like Watson and Norman do well is also fun. Somehow I got extremely fortunate and am privelaged to be a member of a golf club that has recipricol rights with St Andrews... and am hoping to make a trip there in July 2011 when I get to Europe.

Very nice!! I'm sure you'll love it. You'll have to take some photos and post them for us after your trip.
MoneyPit Posted July 16, 2010 Author Posted July 16, 2010 I'm pulling for John Daley to win it all... He sure is entertaining to watch. I'm not too sure what's more shocking, the outfit or the club head position in his backswing
khomeinist Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Sounds good Rob! I have a friend who went to St. Andrews College. Don't ignore the pubs (or the distilleries for that matter).
bolivr Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I like Rory for the dedication he has shown since a wee lad
Fuzz AI Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 He sure is entertaining to watch. I'm not too sure what's more shocking, the outfit or the club head position in his backswing I kinda miss the old Daly. It always made for an interesting round. After the stomach stapling and quitting the juice, he's just a shadow of his former self.
rdb6 Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Rory brings a young exuberance the world of golf certainly needs. He has the game that can contend in this years open. For John Daly to contend he would have to drive the ball well. He would have to do all apspects well. Can he pull something like this off? He needs to turn back the clock which I think he can do. Noy saying he will win but he does have a large game.
Fuzz AI Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 John Daly is a a really nice guy with impeccable fashion sense?
MoneyPit Posted July 17, 2010 Author Posted July 17, 2010 John Daly Pants Update (Friday) - I'd probably cover my face too if I was wearing pants like those.....
MoneyPit Posted July 18, 2010 Author Posted July 18, 2010 Don't know if we have any members on here from South Africa, but I'm going to go out on a limb and wish you an early congratulations! Unless the wheels absolutely fall off, you've got yourselves an Open Championship winner. Louis Oosthuizen certainly played well enough to take it home.
