What CC brands do you find the most consistent?

I expect to hear Cohiba mentioned repeatedly. I don't smoke a lot of them myself, due to cost factor, but I've never had a bad one.

In the more mainstream priced marcas I've had the best luck with:

Partagas

Diplomaticos

Ramon Allones

Least consistent for me is Montecristo... one of my very favorites when they're on, but I seem to run into a much higher incidence of MC duds than other brands I most often smoke.

I know that Czar's PSP & HQ programs will narrow the odds of investing in a bad box, as will their personalized service in general. Still, I'm interested to hear others' opinions on brand consistency (many of which I don't have enough experience with to make a call one way or the other).

You're gonna' laugh at this one! Just look at the discontinued list. IMHO the best cigars (consistently and as a general rule only) are those cigars that were of very limited market share and production (not EL's but regular production cigars). Look no further than the discontinued lists of the last decade.

In overproduction there seems to be a haunting correlation to inconsistency. While cigars like Rafael Gonzales for example, seemed to have escaped this pit fall (in my opinion) other more hightly produced and sought after cigars are rife with consistency issues. The limited production and appeal of these cigars has nothing to do with the taste performance. It has everything to do with marketing and other market factors. The price potential of these cigars is based too on the market and marketing factors and as a result most of them have been dropped.

DAMN SHAME!
