thechenman Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 While doing some macroeconomic research today on global consumer spending trends, I happened across this study. Just thought I would share a link to a recent study that was done by the Population Reference Bureau. It covers a lot of different information, but the first bullet sheds some light on the importance of what Freefallguy (Rob) and the Czar crew is doing in supporting the Nicaraguan Mission through feeding and educating the kids. The study shows that 80% of the population in Nicaragua lives on less than $2 per day. The $2 per day measure is used to mark the poverty line by international standards. We sometimes forget how lucky we are when more than half the world's population lives on less than $2 per day. Less Than $2 Per Day So keep buying those cigars from Czar and contribute when and where you can. Keep up the good work guys...
samb Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Im by no means rich, but I cant imagine live at that level of poverty.
bunburyist Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Sad. Sometimes I wonder how a country can function with so many people living on the edge. Education can surely go a long way to alleviating many of these problems. That and the big elephant in the room called overpopulation. Look at the stats for Tanzania. Only going to get worse.
