I've overlooked this cigar in the past and decided to pick a couple of them up a few months ago. I have enjoyed other Bolivars. I was expecting that dark roast coffee, leather and white pepper spice in Rob's sumary but that's not what I got. The wrapper was veiny and very bumpy and had a dry appearance (no oils). The flavors I picked up were green tea (in the second half) and some hints of cherries and orange peel. The finish left a dry feeling in my mouth. Anyone else experience this recently? Has the flavor profile of the BBF changed? Perhaps it was just too young.

I love the Bolivar BF's and have always found them to be very smooth, very well balanced with a medium to strong fruity sweetness, smoky, earthy and peppery flavours with a hint of Coco. They're fantastic. :buddies:

Perhaps you should try another?

Bloody variable. They hit a good patch late 07 production but unlike others that have maintained the rage (HDM Epi 2 comes to mind) they have struggled to maintain consistency. From memory last month less than 10 boxes cut the mustard, the rest were rejected. It has been difficult to score very good boxes in 2010 to date.

The box we last video reviewed was solid, true to BBF traditional profile without being spectacular.

I normally love BBF. I have an 07 dress box that is stellar. Beautiful to look at and even better to smoke. Also have an 08 cab that is just as you describe. They are the ugliest damn things I have ever seen. Bumpy and most have green spots. They are a little grubby but I can sense that true Bolivar flavor in the background. Hopefully they will morph over time and get better. Fingers crossed.

I've seen countless positive reviews about the BBF. I tried one and felt it wasn't as good as I expected. It might have been the one I happened to buy, so I'm going to try one again soon. I enjoyed the taste, but it just didn't seem strong enough. It was winter at the time, so that could be part of the reason.

I too love BBF's. The first one I ever had was a wonderful mix of dark

coffee, earthiness and loads of leather. I immeadiately got a cabinet and

they haven't lived up to that. I believe its a TEB MAR 07 box and a had one a month

ago and they seem to have turned a corner although I had a couple of singles

from a different 07 box recently and they disapointed as well.

Consistency is an issue and construction isn't always good bit when they are on

they are great.
