Leopolis Semper Fidelis Posted June 19, 2010 Author Posted June 19, 2010 Punch doubles with >5 years of age on them are good, specially if you can get them in the cabinets. Sir Winstons too.Ashamed to say I haven't ever smoked a Partagas Lusitania, apparently I am missing out on something great. I don't think the [H. Upmann] Sir Winstons are Double Coronas...The really great Lusitanias are pre-1995.

Recent vintages of the Partagas Lusitania are very impressive. Give them a shot. Most of us do not have access to pre-1995 cigars, as lovely as they might be.
cigcars Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 The Partagas Lusitania and Ramon Allones Gigantes, in that order. I can't say I was impressed, not even a little bit, with the most recent Hoyo de Monterrey DC's...TOO mild and non-descript, unfortunately.

Most of us do not have access to pre-1995 cigars, as lovely as they might be. I bought my pre-1995's in the early 1990's and still have some left (surprisingly). What are the recent vintages that you recommend? Any year(s) in particular? I would certainly like to try them. You see, I was put off post-1995 Lusitanias by the ones I obtained just under a decade ago. The blend was changed about 1995.

mazolaman Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 I bought a Lusi on me holidays, from 09,and am slavering at the reviews these are getting, question is,does it require some age,or is it ready to go(speking generally)?

That might depend on how soon you can obtain another Lusitania! I have smoked one from a recent 10 count box and it was simply outstanding. I generally prefer 3-5 years of age minimum on my cigars, but it depends on how the box looks, smells, etc.
Smooth Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Rarely get the time/patience for a dc but when I do, Partagas, RA and HDM. With the Lusi being the clear favourite. Might be abused for saying this, but I have smoked a couple dozen SLR DC's and never had a stellar smoke? Don't rate them at all sadly.
