jman Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Just got a perfect box of BRC's, but was wondering if their bands had Cuba on the bottom? I thought only special releases came with that marking on the band. What do you guys think?

I thought only special releases came with that marking on the band. What do you guys think? I have not yet had a confrimed case of the RE band being used on standard production cigars. It could be an error, or it may be a planned update of the band. Several of the Cuban bands have been updated to include the word Cuba. Lets wait and see what others report.
theo30702 Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 When I was in Cuba this winter I purchased a box of BRC LRE Mar 09 and at the bottom it still says Habano. Like alot of other FOH'S say if you purchase your cigars at CZAR this problem of doubt usually goes away.
jman Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 I have no doubt that these cigars are real, the tubos have this band, so my thought is that they changed the regular production as well. They taste great! This box is from late 09. Has anyone else had a box of 2010 yet?

Colt45 Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I presume you mean Special Editions, not "tubos"? Trev, I believe he means the logo (band replication) on the new tubes. Check it out at this great site: Bolivar Tube Link
jman Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 special release band came on the cigars, standard dress box.
Trevor2118 Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 special release band came on the cigars, standard dress box. Just to clarify then, was this a Box of 10 at's or a Box of 25 untubed?
Trevor2118 Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Trev, I believe he means the logo (band replication) on the new tubes. Check it out at this great site:Bolivar Tube Link That is a great site The tube I have, while it has "Cuba" on the tube logo, the cigar itself has a standard A type band (no "Cuba")....but I don't have a date available.
jman Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 Here is the Info Standard Dress Box of 25 All of the cigars had the special release band, which seems different The Box Date is october of 09 They taste great!! Just wondering why the band is different?
ColKurtz Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I have '09 tubos from a reliable source with the extra wording. Maybe they consolidated the band, or got confused? It's Cuba.
jman Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 Personally, I like the special band better, who knows? I was just interested to see if they merged bands.
Wicky Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 I too have Tubos with the the extra colorful Habana Cuba band. LRE JUL 09. Extra dark wrappers but spongey and not as good as dress box RCs I've had in the past.
jman Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 The october 09 was fantastic out of the box, it super rich, burn was off, but it didn't matter
Trevor2118 Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 That is a great site The tube I have, while it has "Cuba" on the tube logo, the cigar itself has a standard A type band (no "Cuba")....but I don't have a date available. It has now been confirm and the website updated.
jman Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 Thanks for your help. The Cuban Cigar Website is the best out there, I was checking it out before I became a member of FOH. Happy smoking
