SpeedyGonzales Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Dear FOH, as I have the chance to buy up to two boxes of ERdM Tainos, boxed in 11/´01, I would love to hear your opinions on these. I really appreciate the marca but don´t have any experience with the Tainos. I don´t question wether I would like them, but generally I avoid buying boxes from ´01. But then again the Tainos are often referred to as being very well constructed. So, would you recommend buying ERdM Tainos from that year? How are they compared to other/later production dates? Thanks & looking forward to your answers, regards, Speedy
Puros Y Vino Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 I recently had my first Tainos, as I bought singles I don't have the box date. I found the cigar to be somewhat mild/medium in strength. It may have been the easiest smoke I've had too. The burn was impeccable, lots of cedar, earth and mild spice on the palate. Smoke was cool and creamy as well. The draw was excellent. Overall it is an excellent cigar. As these were discontinued in 2006 it's safe to say I smoke a 4 year old cigar at the very least. Over time I can only expect the cigar to get smoother and more subtle. This is not a strong cigar IMO.
bassman Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Tough call as these are hard to find. I've smoked a couple 01s with no construction problems, but little flavor either. Also had a couple 05s which had very complex & enjoyable flavor. As always with older cigars, previous storage conditions are important. Do you have the option to buy a trial cigar before commiting to the box?
thechenman Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 While I haven't had the opportunity to smoke an ERDM Tainos as they were discontinued several years before I started smoking CCs, I would say you should buy them. If they happen to not be your cup of tea, I don't think you would have any problem offloading them for sale or trade as these babies are very hard to come by.
SpeedyGonzales Posted June 8, 2010 Author Posted June 8, 2010 Just a short update: At a price-point of 320,- Euro I decided to not buy this box (or even the two of them). Too risky getting a plugged box. Probably something I´ll regret for a long time, but hey – there are so many other wonderful boxes of great cigars around… Greets, Speedy
