bassman Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Lately I'm more inclinded to reach for a bottle of Sauternes over vintage port when in the mood for a sweet wine. My 2007 futures just arrived & it looks like 2009 was another fantstic year, so I'm ordering again. Wines rated 97+ are only $85 a bottle, as opposed to many hundreds of $$$ for a similar rated red Bordeaux.

Ken Gargett Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 which 07s did you go for? i must admit that i skpped them, and tossing up whether to do the same with the 09's, as i have a heap of 01's, 03's and 05's. strange how the region has gone all 'odd year' but what a great run.

Not sure this is spelled right, but in 07 I got a case of Doisy Vedrines- very reasonably prices. In 01, 03 & 05 La Tour Blanche.

semery74 Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 I paired Sauternes on several occasions with Esplendidos, Siglo IV, V, and VI, plus the Monte Sublime and the Quay Imperiales. Great wine. Great cigars.
thechenman Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Huge an of Sauternes. Just discussing it with KG as he pointed out in the BBF thread. I too am looking forward to the 2009 futures. As mentioned when I turn t Sauternes for a cigar, I tend to go with Rieussic. Yquem is left ot be savored on its own.
MasterOfEvil Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Cannot say anything bad about Chateau D'Yquem...so yes, I like Sauternes.
