So me and the missus have been talking for a little while about heading over east. It is her passion to do something in acting and being isolated here on the west coast makes this really difficult. Me, I'm pretty easy going on where I live.

We're thinking QLD most likely so my question is what are good places to live over there? Nice suburbs etc. Trying to get a feel for prices of houses.

Thanks guys.

i suspect that first you'll have to find where best suits your wife for acting. certainly opportunities here - more film and tv than stage - but for theatre, sydney or melb may suit.

I suspect down south is better for acting opportunities than Brisbane but your wife would need to research.

Brisbane is a great place to live and raise a family. It is a booming city but with that has come traffic congestion, construction and road works everywhere, expensive housing at an average of $480,000.

Come for a visit and spend time with locals (happy to show you around).

Can I recommend not moving to somewhere near Rob or Ken as they are both near nothing. Well thats not true at all they are actually closer to Ipswich than Brs Vegas which isn't too bad as we all know that Ipswich has the youngest average age for first pregnancy in the country so that's something to be proud of.

the acting advantage south east qld has is the movieworld stuff where they do make a lot of films, both for local and offshore, and television.

Cheers Rob, might just do that! We're planning a trip away in a couple of months. If I could make it link up with cigar smoking all the better! lol.

QLD just came about because we both have a little bit of family over there, the intention is to be somewhere where she can easily and cheaply travel to other places for two/three week blocks for acting jobs.

I mean, flights Perth - Sydney $364. flights Brisbane - Sydney $140. Makes a **** load more sense to me :D

smithers, i understand you'll shortly be moving to that fabulous suburb, 'homeless'.

to be truthful, i've no idea how close i am to ayala's place but i'll take a city/suburb where i am 20-25 min (outside severe peak hour when it is dire) from the centre of the city and i cannot see a nieghbour, surrounded by forests and creeks and birds and wildlife.

when did ippy take over from gympie? gympie, still the highest per capita convictions for incest for all australia.

Yeah, we're in Perth currently. And housing here I'm pretty sure just got to be the most expensive around. Where rob is saying house prices are around the $480k mark. For us it's more like 650 for somewhere decent

480 in Perth barely gets you a hovel in the sticks.
