kafreeman Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Here's a few things that have been on the smoker lately... First off a pork butt Then a few meatloafs And then a rib roast in the big easy... cant find any pictures of the turkeys ive done in it, but they are awesome.
bunburyist Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 awesome. What's a 'big easy'? Does the heat come from below or is there a lid like a pressure cooker?
kafreeman Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 awesome. What's a 'big easy'? Does the heat come from below or is there a lid like a pressure cooker? Propane powered cooker... they liken it to an oil-less turkey fryer. The only lid is a mesh style that will reflect heat back down into the cooker. I throw it on in the last 10-20 minutes of cooking a bird and the skin crisps up quite nicely. There is a propane ring inside of it, and then a stainless steel sleeve goes inside of that, and is open at the top, and a small drain hole at the bottom, and vents at the top. It uses infrared heat to cook. 16 lb. turkey is done in about 2.5 hours almost every time. I burnt up a temp probe in it the second time I used it, it melted the insulation inside the stainless steel braid. It is an awesome cooker for lean meats and poultry. http://www.charbroil.com/ProductInfo/54-95...rkey-Fryer.aspx
bunburyist Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 cool - looks like a good bit of kit to have alongside the bbq. Not sure why it's called oil less though......who the hell has ever deep fried an entire turkey?!?!
kafreeman Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 A lot of people do it here... a few catch their house on fire when they do it.
