It's been an tough couple of weeks, but finally the weekend is here and I'm ready to light a few up. Last week, I was back in Tucson and got the news that not only are my sister-in-law, her husband and 2 girls will be joining us for Christmas, but now, wife's mom and dad are also coming. We've got the room for sis and her family, but unless mom and dad are willing to sleep in the living room, they're going to the hotel.:-D I was perfectly happy with that situation until my wife told mom and dad that we would help defray their hotel cost while here. Of course, she didn't bother to find out whether a) there are vacancies at the hotels nearby or B) how much it would cost. She assumes that with all the travelling I do, that I don't mind spending time on the phone looking for a hotel. After a couple of hours on the phone, I found that the closest hotel that had a vacancy would set us back nearly 4 grand. Whooops. So after spending another couple of hours to find out that that was our best option, I decided that I needed a cigar.

I lit up a Siglo I and went outside to sulk (nice cigar, great first half, then got harsh and bitter). I go into the storage room to look for something or other, when an idea hit me. Turn the damn storage room (a 7 by 11 foot area) into a bedroom and stick the in laws in there. Well, I'm happy to say, it took me 5 days, but it's done. Ripped the flooring out, mended the walls, painted, laid tiles, bought some furniture, and now we have a guest room. Tiring, but worth it because when the in laws leave, I now have my own private cigar room.:-D Celebrated with a Partagas Lusitania (great cigar, even throughout, great burn, very little harshness, peppery and earthy with nice undertones of chocolate).

Now I'm back in Stockholm trying to get over the jetlag. Unfortunately, this weekend will hold little sleep since many of my coworkers are leaving the project and have designated this weekend as the party weekend. I guess I'll just sleep at work next week. Have a great weekend all. I know mine, filled with drunk swedes and a travel humi full of PSP2 and Unicos, will be.:-D

That sounds like a great project you just finished. Good way to spin it in your favor too. Damn do we think alike. Enjoy it when the in-laws are gone! Put some pics up when its turned into your smoking room.

We are just in the process of moving back to the town where my wife and I came from after 10 years of travelling around Australia and the world for work. I am happy to say that the cottage we are renovating is miles from town and has a designated cigar room. Can't wait to get it up and running :-D

For $4,000, tell your wife the in-laws can have your bedroom and you move to a hotel where you can have your privacy, room service, cable tv and a smoking room to boot!
