Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with Diplomaticos #3 from 1999....Did they smoke well? Or were they a victim of the late 90s downturn for Habanos quality?

Thanks guys!

50/50 crap shoot.

Can be wonderful or tent poles. You won't know until they arrive but have your vendor check otherwise I would settle on some 2006/07

Although, not quite 1999, I did recently break into a box from 2001 (ARA - AGO 01). Of the first two that I tried, one was extremely tight and the second complete plugged. The second two have been very enjoyable. Excellent, old-world Cuban flavors, smooth, and a good nicotine kick! Some of the most enjoyable smokes that I have had. As Rob said, it looks like a crap shoot, even within a box! It is tough to say if 50/50 box is worth it anyway, but the good ones have been very good. Tough decision. Basically, would you pay double the price?

It seems the Diplo line has gotten better year by year.. Either way it is still my favourite marque. Very hard to beat, especially for the price range they are in.

Thanks for the advice, fellas. I am hog-wild about this cigar, but i just didn't want to get stuck with a known stinker.

I will take a chance, and post a review once I give 'em a shot.

I have a box of Dec '99. Like Rob said, some smoke nicely, others not at all.

Honestly, I would stick with a more recent vintage.

I would too, if that were possible. Recent vintages of Diplo 3s are hard to come by, as they were discontinued in '06.

But at least I know that SOME from 99 smoke nicely, thanks man!
