  1. Personally, I think that PL band is one of, if not the, best looking cigar band. It's classy!
  2. Good game Sepp, I'm 1 for 3 at heads-up in the past 4 weeks.... That's not a good winning percentage =) Congrats.... let us know how the winnings smoke!
  3. total noob question: what's the difference between varnished and non-varnished?
  4. not sure as it was gifted to me....
  5. interesting.... that COULD be a possibility.... i just have my cigars in an air tight tupper ware.... no beads or anything like that... thanks for the insight!
  6. Had one of these a few days ago... I just wanted to comment on the burn which was absolutely insane... I've never seen a cigar burn quite like this one. Didn't require relighting the first 2 thirds, but the first 2 thirds were the most wild.... it would burn down one side ( a long way ) then even itself out and it did this 2 or 3 times.... at one point in the middle it did something really weird... it seemed that a line downwards started to burn on it's own and it looked like a tear drop, before eventually evening itself out again... anyone have similar experiences with the burning? maybe it's just a one off.... otherwise a good smoke....
  7. Nah, I actually like my place is it's close to work and amenities.... Besides, the toilet is quite confortable =)
  8. Ya... point ratings are quite subjective.... for me it kinda goes like this: <79 = durty -> never try again 80-89 = it's alright -> i'll smoke them if it's around >90 = good stuff -> must be a celebration!!! =) I'm not really a harsh critic and easily pleased hehe... but at the same time.... I haven't really tried that many different types.... I'll give those PCs a try... thanks for the suggestions!!!
  9. Hello, I wanted to participate in the petit corona review this weekend. So, I decided to smoke a RYJ petit corona. Unfortunately, my camera is not working properly right now and can't provide the pictures. Personal opinion: This is was my very first cuban cigar that I smoked about 7 or 8 years ago at a Las Casa in Toronto. This is the cigar that I tend to smoke frequently because of usual financial restraints, but I don't mind because I enjoy them. Pre-light: The wrapper is quite nice and smooth looking. The colour is milk chocolate and a little dry looking (i.e. no oily wrapper). Some green spots. Aroma is pleasant and reminds me of dry grass. Draw is somewhat tight, but managable. *I'm not a very critical smoker. So, finding the adjectives is difficult and I'm going to have to rely on the FOH flavour wheel on this one!!! Impressions: This cigar didn't change at all in terms of taste throughout. I consulted the flavour wheel and have to say that the RYJ PC has a floral/woodsy character to it. Seems like there's a hint of spice (like a cinnamon) that comes through periodically. In opinion, on average it's just below a medium, but picked up a little bit towards the end in terms of strength. I've smoked about 15 of these throughout the past 7-8 years and they never really disappoint me, but don't get me excited either. To me it's the best beginner cigar because it doesn't require a lot of time to smoke, it's a good size, and the smoking characteristics are pleasant and not over powering for the first-timer. Out of 100 = 81 Side note: I'm currently living in HK where space is a premium. Anyways, there was a thread a while back about posting pics of your 'cigar chair'. Thought I'd post mine(taken when I first moved in). This is the only place in my apartment that I can smoke because 1) it has a vent to expell the smoke. and 2) there isn't much room to smoke anywhere. Pretty comfortable I must say!!!
  10. Coming from Toronto, I can feel some of the pain that people in Cleveland feel (although JBJ is a bigger loss than Bosh). To be honest, all I care from that show was that proceeds went to the kids. That's the most important in terms of how he did it. He knew that his decision would garner alot of attention and took this as an opportunity to raise some money for the kids. Good on him and his 'team'. It'll be fun to watch all those 3 play that's for sure. But, you forgot to mention that most important thing. Kobe is STILL the best in the league PERIOD. After this free agency stuff, I've come to realize how great Kobe is.
  11. thanks for the good game fellas... so....................... how do i get my prize? =)
  12. impressive, sir! brilliant design.... does it in fact keep a steady humidity level at each level?
  13. This maybe a stupid question, but do CPU fans 'over heat'?
  14. just a random question.... for the people who have modified winefridge humidors or modified home made humidors with computer fans put in.... 1. do you have the fans running 24/7? would it be harmful if it were? 2. is the direction of the circulation considered or other variables (like speed)? thanks!
  15. battle of the rooks.... good game bster... let me know how the broken robusto smokes (maybe i didn't lose much hahaha)
  16. looks good. thanks colt
  17. Was wondering if you guys can give me your opinion on which cigar best fits a mild, medium and full-bodied cigar profile. I want to try one of each to figure out what each profile means!!! (I'm a newbie and just can't understand at this point) thanks!
  18. Thanks for the reply guys. I guess my thinking was that he would turn also gift some for others, but I guess he could use the cutter I would give him to cut it for them. Also, doesn't seem like cutting them anyways would hurt the cigars. Thanks again!!!
  19. Hey All, Would like an opinion from some of you. If I were to gift a box of cigars to someone who smokes them occasionally and, thus, wouldn't have some of the tools necessary (i.e. cigar cutter). Would it be bad to pre-cut all of the cigars in the box? If kept in a make-shift humidor, would they still be okay? Your opinions please. Thanks in advanced.
  20. Hello, Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a Canadian (from Toronto) working in Hong Kong at the moment. Stumbled upon this forum through the YouTube cigar reviews and enjoyed Rob et al.'s antics and comments. I'm a very casual smoker (smoking 2-5 cigars a year usually in the summer) for the past 5-6 years. Started off with 'Century Sams', but now I only go for the good ol' Cubans. Anyways, other than introducing myself thought I'd ask a newbie question to everyone in the forum. Some of you guys have hundreds of nice cigars but only smoke on a weekly basis, but continue to buy more, good stuff. I understand collecting, etc. But, is the intention to smoke all of them eventually? If you're aging them (for 5-7 years for example) do you intend to smoke them all? Isn't it hard to smoke them all after waiting for so long? Or, do some of you plan to sell them later on as aged cigars? What are your thoughts/plans? Thanks, hope to learn alot about such an interesting hobby/lifestyle. Chinamike233
